Roof renovation D'Hoogh Mechelen

- Location: Grote Markt, Mechelen
- Project type: Full roof renovation+ chimney restoration
- Building type: Listed historic commercial building (c. 1902)
Where Craftsmanship Meets Heritage
On the Grote Markt in Mechelen — one of the most beautiful and most visited squares in Flanders — stands the stately building that once housed the legendary D'Hoogh restaurant. For years, this address was a culinary landmark: the restaurant held a Michelin star for more than 32 years. The building, dating from around 1902, is a striking feature of the historic square, set within sight of St. Rombouts' Cathedral and the medieval town hall.
The owner faced a complex brief: the roof required complete renewal, but every intervention had to comply with strict heritage regulations and preserve the visual integrity of the Grote Markt.
The result speaks for itself. The roof looks sharper than ever, the chimneys once again grace the building's skyline, and the modernisations carried out prepare the property for the future. A roof renovation built to last for decades.
A project we are proud of — not only for the quality of the craftsmanship, but also because we have played a part in preserving a piece of Mechelen's heritage.
